Difficulty Guide

Easy plays a random column. Medium takes immediate wins, blocks immediate threats, and otherwise favours the centre while avoiding gift squares. Hard looks several moves ahead with a threat-counting evaluation. Expert searches considerably deeper and prefers the quickest win and the longest defence. Search depth scales down on larger boards to keep moves prompt.

This standalone version implements the full connection game: discs drop to the lowest free slot in a column, the first player to align the chosen connect length horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins, and a full board is a draw. The connect length must fit the board in at least one direction; if it does not, it is reduced automatically at the start of the game.
