Arrow keys or W A S D slide the tiles. So do the buttons below the board, and a swipe on a touch screen. U undoes the last move and N starts a new game.

How to Play

Every move slides all tiles as far as they will go in the chosen direction. Two tiles of the same value that collide merge into one tile of twice the value, and the score increases by that new value. A tile produced by a merge cannot merge again in the same move: three tiles of the same value in a line combine only the two furthest along the direction of travel, and four in a line combine as two separate pairs. A new tile then appears on a random empty square. The game is won when the target tile appears, and it ends when the grid is full and no two adjacent tiles share a value.

The original game was written by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014. This standalone version follows the same rules, with the grid size, target, spawn rate and starting position all adjustable. Larger grids and higher four-chances make the board fill faster; the 3 × 3 grid is close to unwinnable at the standard target.
